The After Happily Ever Line
“I do.”
And then comes the happily-ever-after part. Or is it?
At Turquoise Morning Press, we believe the story continues, and we think you would like to read about it.
What conflicts erupt after the “I do’s” are said and the reception is over? What changes occur in couples’ lives and relationships to create that conflict? Does one person grow, the other not? Does a new job create a long-distance relationship? An unexpected pregnancy, a death in the family, a temptation from the past, a secret not yet told…
You create the conflict and the scenario. The only rules are this—the couple has already said “I do.” They are married and will remain married as part of the story, but there is incredible conflict within the confines of the plot that make the reader wonder if they will stay together, or not.
Written as a true romance, these stories would end in a Happily Ever After, after the couple has survived the After Happily Ever. Written as a women’s fiction novel, however, could put a different spin on how the story evolves and ends. How you tell the story is entirely up to you.
After Happily Ever stories can be novella or novel length, and can range from sweet to erotic romance, or could be mainstream women’s fiction.
